Terms of Use
The short version. BeatMaxing is free right now. Use it on as many of your own machines as you like, for personal or commercial work. Don't resell it. It comes with no warranty, and we can't be liable for what happens in your edit.
1 · What these terms cover
They apply to the BeatMaxing plugin, the BeatMaxing Helper application, and the website beatmaxing.com, supplied by BeatMaxing. By downloading or using BeatMaxing you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use it.
2 · Your license
You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use BeatMaxing:
- on computers you own or control;
- for personal or commercial projects, including client work;
- for as long as these terms are followed.
Anything you make with it is yours. We claim no rights over your music, your footage, your project files or your finished edit.
2a · Who owns BeatMaxing, and what this license is not
BeatMaxing is ours. The plugin, the helper application, the drum-detection model we trained, the artwork, the wording, the documentation and the name are our property and stay our property. Section 2 gives you a license to run BeatMaxing. It gives you nothing else, and nothing on this site, in the download or in any file inside it transfers ownership of any part of it to anyone.
BeatMaxing is not customizable and is not a starting point for other software. The license in section 2 does not let you modify, adapt, translate, rewrite, extend, merge, incorporate or build anything on top of BeatMaxing or any part of it, or create anything derived from it, whether or not you share the result. It does not let you reuse any part of it — code, model, artwork or wording — in another product, your own or anyone else's. Section 3 lists what else you may not do, and this section does not narrow it.
The open-source components listed in section 11 belong to their own authors and keep their own licenses. Those licenses are theirs to give and ours to honor: we do not claim them and we cannot take them away from you.
Anything you make with BeatMaxing is still entirely yours. Your music, your footage, your project files and your finished edit are yours, exactly as section 2 says. This section is about the tool, never about the work you do with it.
3 · What you may not do
- Sell, rent, sub-license or redistribute BeatMaxing, or charge anyone for it. This does not apply to the open-source parts we bundle. The FFmpeg, gmpy2 and python-soxr builds inside the download are LGPL-licensed; certifi and tqdm are under the Mozilla Public License 2.0; and the ADTOF drum-detection model is under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0, which permits sharing for non-commercial purposes. You keep every right those licenses give you — see section 11.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble it, except where the law specifically permits it, and except for the open-source components named in section 11, where their licenses permit it.
- Remove or alter its name, notices or branding.
- Present it as your own product.
- Use it to break the law, or to process material you have no right to use.
4 · Price
BeatMaxing is free to use until Saturday, November 14, 2026. From Sunday, November 15, 2026 it needs a license key, and a key comes with a monthly subscription. The price is shown at checkout before you pay anything.
It starts with a 7-day free trial. A new subscription's first seven days cost nothing. You enter a card when you start, your key works right away, and the first payment is taken only when the seven days are over. Cancel at any point in that week and you are never charged - and BeatMaxing keeps working until the week is done.
It renews every month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time through the store's customer portal - the link comes with your purchase - or by emailing support@beatmaxing.com and we will do it for you. When you cancel you keep using BeatMaxing until the end of the month you have already paid for.
Refunds. If a charge is not what you expected, email support@beatmaxing.com and we will make it right. It is read by the person who built this.
Everything you made with BeatMaxing stays yours, and markers already placed in your projects are unaffected if a key ends - they are ordinary Premiere markers in your own project file.
5 · Updates
BeatMaxing checks once a day for a newer version and can install it. Updates are verified as genuinely ours before they are installed. You can prevent this by removing the helper's auto-start.
6 · What BeatMaxing does and does not promise
BeatMaxing places markers where it detects drum hits. It is a tool that helps you edit; it is not a guarantee of a correct result. Detection is not perfect. It may miss hits, mark hits that are not there, or place a marker slightly off, particularly on dense, quiet or unusual material. Always check the result before relying on it.
7 · No warranty
BeatMaxing is provided "as is" and "as available", with no warranties of any kind, express or implied — including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with any particular system or version of Premiere Pro.
8 · Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, loss of work, loss of profit, missed deadline or business interruption arising out of your use of, or inability to use, BeatMaxing — even if we have been told such damage is possible.
Our total liability for any claim relating to BeatMaxing will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you actually paid us for it, or (b) fifty US dollars (US$50).
Some places do not allow some of these exclusions. Where that is so, this section applies as far as the law allows and no further. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
9 · Back up your work
Video editing software can crash, and projects can be damaged for reasons that have nothing to do with us. Keep backups of your projects. We are not responsible for lost or damaged work.
10 · Requirements
BeatMaxing is built for macOS on Apple Silicon with Adobe Premiere Pro 25.6 or newer. It is not supported on Intel Macs or on Windows, and we make no promises about behavior on unsupported systems.
11 · Other people's software
Adobe Premiere Pro is Adobe's product and Adobe's terms apply to it. This site is hosted by Wix. Where BeatMaxing is obtained through the Adobe Marketplace, Adobe's terms apply to that transaction. We are not responsible for their services, and this is not an Adobe product.
Before BeatMaxing looks for drums it separates the vocals out of your audio, and it does that with audio-separator, an open-source library released under the MIT License (© 2023 karaokenerds), together with a model from the Ultimate Vocal Remover (UVR) project. Thank you to their developers. Neither project is affiliated with BeatMaxing and neither endorses it.
BeatMaxing's drum detection uses a model derived from ADTOF by Mickaël Zehren, M. Alunno and P. Bientinesi, made available under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0), by way of the ADTOF-pytorch port by Xavier Riley. The ADTOF project is not affiliated with BeatMaxing and does not endorse it. That license is offered to you directly by its authors rather than by us — it is not ours to sublicense — and its terms are NonCommercial: it permits you to use and share the model for non-commercial purposes, on the attribution and share-alike conditions it sets out. You keep every right that license gives you, and nothing in section 3 of these terms takes any of it away.
BeatMaxing also bundles FFmpeg, which it uses to read and convert audio.
The copy inside the download is built with --disable-gpl and
--enable-version3 and contains no GPL-licensed components, so that copy is
licensed to you under the
GNU Lesser General Public License,
version 3 or later. You may use, copy, modify and redistribute that FFmpeg
build under the terms of the LGPL, and nothing in section 3 of these terms takes
that away. Its FFmpeg libraries ship as separate shared libraries beside the program,
so you can replace them with a version you built yourself.
For at least three years from the day you received it, we will
give the complete corresponding source of the FFmpeg build we ship to anyone who
asks — write to support@beatmaxing.com
and we will send it at no charge. FFmpeg is not affiliated with BeatMaxing and does
not endorse it.
The download bundles four more open-source components whose licenses ask us to name them here. gmpy2, which BeatMaxing uses for arbitrary-precision math, is licensed to you under the GNU Lesser General Public License, version 3 or later. python-soxr, which it uses to resample audio (© 2021 Myungchul Keum), is licensed to you under the GNU Lesser General Public License, version 2.1 or later. certifi, the list of certificate authorities, and tqdm (© Casper da Costa-Luis), which reports progress, are licensed to you under the Mozilla Public License 2.0. You keep every right those licenses give you, and nothing in section 3 of these terms takes any of them away. gmpy2 and python-soxr ship as separate shared libraries beside the program, so you can replace them with versions you built yourself. For at least three years from the day you received it, we will give the complete corresponding source of any of these four components, and of any other open-source component listed in the third-party notices, to anyone who asks — write to support@beatmaxing.com and we will send it at no charge. None of these projects is affiliated with BeatMaxing and none of them endorses it.
The download bundles many more open-source components than the ones named above. Every one of them is listed, with the license text and copyright notices found inside the package reproduced verbatim, on the third-party notices page and in the plain-text file published beside the download: NOTICE-0.9.14.txt. Both are generated from that download.
12 · Ending it
You may stop using BeatMaxing at any time by uninstalling it. This license ends automatically if you break these terms, and you must then stop using it and remove it. Sections 6 to 9 survive.
13 · Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top will change, and continuing to use BeatMaxing after that means you accept the new version.
14 · Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
15 · If part of this is unenforceable
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
